Learning to find laughter in the midst of insecurity

Last night, I guided a meditation practice for a group of people who, for the most part, were already familiar with the path.
After this inner journey, we had planned a laughter yoga session. But it was already late… and our bursts of laughter probably wouldn’t have amused the neighbors after two hours of meditation music in the garden. My voice, even though I tried to speak softly, must have drifted over to their ears on this beautiful spring Wednesday night in 2025.
With these friends – the real ones, not those bound by transactional relationships, but those who give and share without expecting anything in return – there are often these uncontrollable fits of laughter. The kind that take you over completely, leave your abs sore, and make it impossible to stop.
There’s still a full laughter yoga session waiting for us. A true one. Free. Wild. Joyful. Where we’ll be able to laugh for hours without worrying about disturbing the peace.
Why laugh? Because laughing while going through pain – sometimes even suffering – is revolutionary.
Laughing wholeheartedly, without calculation, without masks, without fear of judgment, is a pure expression of vital power.
It’s Life.
It’s Joy.
“Learning to laugh in the midst of insecurity, not fearing vulnerability, laughing a little more, fearing a little less. That’s the challenge, the grace.”
– Alexandre Jollien
